Thank you all for the brilliant conversation of yesterday’s Day of Digital Humanities! Checking this morning the system says we had 331 members, though I suspect there will be many inactive registrations.
This note is about what happens next.
- Feel free to take a few days to fill in posts that you didn’t have time to finish. Add photos and edit until you are happy. We won’t turn off the system for a couple of weeks.
- Please consider categorizing your posts and/or adding tags. We hope we can use these to provide a way to navigate the posts.
- Please read what others wrote and comment. Make connections. You can use the Activity page to read what others wrote: http://dayofdh2012.artsrn.ualberta.ca/activity/
- If you didn’t have time to participate and want your blog deleted please write Peter Organisciak <email@example.com> or Kamal Ranaweera <firstname.lastname@example.org>.
- As you may have noticed the Day of DH is a centerNet initiative. We run it without funding through volunteer help. We are looking for partners, especially centres that would like to help or take it over next year. Would your center like to host it?
We will not send around too many messages, the Day is over, but we will keep you informed.

Day of DH 2012 is in full swing, and you may be looking for ways to follow along.
As a reminder, there are many way to participate. If you find notable posts and tweets, share them on Twitter or on your Day of DH blog. To respond to posts, don’t be shy about commenting. Join the discussion, Day of DH is a community event.

Some people ask what they should blog about and how many posts they should post. Here are some ideas:
- Your first post might be an About <your name> post to introduce yourself. Go ahead and write that post before the day even starts. This is a place where you can mention projects you won’t be working on during the day.
- Write a post for the 3 to 5 major events or tasks you work on. Don’t feel you have to post on every email you write.
- Feel free to write the posts at the end of the day or to add text to them later. We will give everyone a week or so to edit their posts as we realize many people are too busy during the day to write reflective posts.
- Take a look at what other people post and respond to them if you want.
- Post some pictures too, but remember to ask permission of anyone who appears in the picture. (And no children please.)
- Many are traveling or otherwise not working on digital humanities stuff on the 27th. In that case you can post about what you might have done, or what you think about the posts of others. We’ve had people at home with kids, people posting after a day traveling, people posting who stayed home to read and so on…
