Marcus Bastos is Professor at Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (PUC-SP) where he has a PhD in Communication and Semiotics. He is an artist, curator and researcher in the areas of convergence between audiovisual, design and new media. Marcus is the author of the eBook Culture of Recycling (NOEMA Gallery, 2007) and one of the editors of the Appropriation (In) common: public and private space in times of mobility (Instituto Sergio Motta, 2009). Edited with Luke Bambozzi and Rodrigo Minelli,   Mediations, Technology, Public Space – A critical overview of the art in mobile media (Conrad, 2010). He was curator of Noise (Video Shows commemorative 10 years / Itau Cultural Institute, Belém and Belo Horizonte, 2005), Geographies Phones (Institute Fundación Telefónica, Buenos Aires and Lima, 2010), installation -> video (SESC Shows in Arts 2010) and  LIVE arte.mov – International Festival of Mobile Media Art (2007 to 2012). Among his recent projects are Paulistanas Scenes (audiovisual composition created with Natalia and Aly Rodrigo Gontijo, SESC-Ipiranga, 2013), and  Construction Operations (videoensaio the eponymous DVD Nelson Brissac, José Resende and Heloise Maringoni 2012). He has also directed experimental documentaries like Giuseppe, etc. (2011),  Free Radicals /’s (2006) and Interface Shapeless (2006).
