In May 2007 The Program for Study of Women Writing and Reading will be hosting a conference, Women Writing Reading: Local and Global, Past and Present, in conjunction with a Royal Society of Canada conference, Rooms of Their Own: Women in the Knowledge Economy and Society. Both conferences will be held at the University of Alberta and they will overlap for one day on Friday, May 4.
The WWR conference will provide a forum for discussion of the program's general concerns. This will be a chance for academics and the wider community to come together and discuss issues around the theme of women as writers and readers. The aim of the conference is to explore these issues in the past and present, and in a local and global context. Please follow the links at the top of the page to the conference websites where you will find more information about each conference, including registration forms and calls for papers. We invite you to join us and be a part of what is sure to be a successful event. The deadline for WWR conference proposals is February 28, 2007.
Here is your opportunity to enter the conversation. We look forward to your comments and suggestions, which you should feel free to discuss further in our WWR Events Forum.
With our best wishes,
Patricia Demers Gary Kelly
