Abstract
In this poster, I will present details of St. John Fisher’s new major in Digital Cultures and Technologies (http://dct.sjfc.edu). This major, which combines the humanities with information technology, represents a pedagogical shift in both communications and computer science. It represents a multidisciplinary approach to undergraduate education that is still far from common, and the ideal way to structure such programs remains uncertain. This particular program offers one approach for attendees of the HASTAC conference to consider for their universities and colleges. Specifically, newly designed programs must determine how to structure new and existing courses into a major that blends the theoretical and the pragmatic, and I would be ready to discuss such issues.
