Abstract
microfemininewarfare is a case study on women electronic music artists. Specifically, it is a hybrid experimental documentary in database form that combines character-driven storytelling with new digital techniques of interactivity using the open-source Canadian-German-developed Korsakow system that is a structure for creating non-linear interactive films. Using the notion of écriture feminine and working with emerging media, microfemininewarfare intervenes into the current sphere of electronic music documentary in order to challenge some of the dominant forms that these documentaries typically take. With in-depth interviews of an international array of eight women composers, Chantal Passamonte (Mira Calix), Libby Floyd (The Doubtful Guest), Indra Khera (Mantra), Christine Clements (Vaccine), Alea Petre (Mileece), Sabina Plamenova (Subeena), Bérangère Maximin, and Alicia Bauer (Alley Cat), I hope to faithfully present their stories.
