Sachiko Kato

Sachiko Kato is our Japanese regional coordinator for fieldwork and workshops. Though she has been working with us only a short time, her contribution has been significant. The BHAP start-up meetings in 2011 posed a significant challenge due to the Tokoku Earthquake and tsunami (aka the Great East Japan Earthquake). The earthquake hit the day before our first scheduled meeting was to take place. Through the chaos, Sachiko Kato and Andrea Hiob were able to ensure the safety of members who had already arrived while also rescheduling all of the events for a later date. Through providing essential information and managing accommodation and catering bookings, she ensured that fieldwork during the following summer was a comfortable and amazing experience for all those who participated.
