BHAP welcomes Dr. Tetsuya Amano to the University of Alberta

We would like to warmly welcome Dr. Tetsuya Amano to the Department of Anthropology, University of Alberta.

Dr. Amano is a professor of archaeology from Hokkaido University, Sapporo, Japan. His interests are in the Holocene prehistory of Hokkaido and Northeast Asia with particular emphasis on the Okhotsk and Satsumon cultures (8th-13th cent. AD).

The purpose of Dr. Amano's visit to the University of Alberta is to conduct research on bear rituals in the North, with the goal of creating a comparative study of bear ritual and ceremony between Eurasia and America. Dr. Amano will be staying in Edmonton until September 30, 2013 and his office is in Tory 14-20.
