Statement regarding recent article October 12, 2017 Dear Team Members (scholars and graduate students), Associates and Friends of the Baikal-Hokkaido Archaeology Project, This is to let you know that the BHAP main office at the University of Alberta is fully aware of the article "From Prejudice to Pride" by Ms. Jude Isabella that appeared recently in the HAKAI online magazine. While we acknowledge that the author has the right to present the material collected during her visit to Rebun in summer 2016 in the manner that is consistent with the goals set for the article, we are of the opinion that it entirely misrepresents BHAP research operations on Rebun island and, more precisely, misrepresents the role of the University of Alberta, as well as its Western partners, in these operations.
