Hands-on, 2-day XRF Workshop hosted by BHAP U of Alberta
November 8, 2011
BHAP is hosting a hands-on, 2-day workshop on Accurate Elemental Non-destructive XRF.
The workshop is led by Dr. Bruce Kaiser, Chief Scientist at Bruker AXS Handheld, and is being held in the Department of Anthropology, University of Alberta, November 17-18.
The purpose of the workshop is to provide those attending a good knowledge of XRF (x-ray fluorescence) physics, and how to apply this technique to the elemental analysis of anything.
Learning will be accomplished by actually doing analysis of the materials that participants bring to the workshop!
About the Director of the Workshop: Dr. Bruce Kaiser has taught in over 400 museums and universities worldwide supporting Art Restoration and Conservation. His knowledge of how to make XRF systems give details of all objects analyzed has international recognition. He has a very broad and deep technical knowledge of the challenges facing curators and conservators of very diverse collections and materials and is currently actively working on several applications.
